District Governor David Gauch, a member of the Crestwood Lions club in Mantua, Ohio, has held many offices within the association, including club president, club secretary, club treasurer, zone chairman, district retention chairman, cabinet secretary/treasurer, second vice district governor, and first vice district governor. In addition, DG Gauch has been a presenter at District 13-D Spring Conferences and District Conventions and for Multiple District 13 Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer training.

In recognition of his service to the association, he has received a Lion of the Year Award, a 100% Club Secretary Award, two Club President Excellence Awards, several Governor’s Appreciation Certificates, three Council of Governor’s Awards of Merit, an International President’s Extension Award, and an International President’s Leadership Award. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

DG Gauch is a Cost Estimator for a Government Contractor.

In addition to his Lions activities, DG Gauch is a member of the Ohio Maple Producers Association. His maple syrup won the Hobby Class at the 2002 and 2008 Geauga County Maple Festivals. DG Gauch also enjoys making jelly and his wild black raspberry jelly received a blue ribbon at the 2010 Portage County Randolph Fair.

DG Gauch’s wife, Patti, also a Lion, has two daughters. The Gauches share ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

 Governor’s Goals and Expectations
For 2011-2012

GOALS
1. Charter two new Lions clubs.
2. Achieve a net increase of +20 members in the District.
3. District 13-D will plant (50) trees.

EXPECTATIONS
1. Club membership and activity reports are filed by deadlines.
2. District and International bills are paid within 50 days of receipt.
3. Clubs will participate at their Zone meetings.
4. Clubs will have delegates at the District Convention.
5. Clubs will support the Parade of Checks.
6. Clubs will support the Eye Care Foundation and the District Fun Calendar.
7. Clubs will consider chartering Leo clubs.
8. Clubs will actively pursue new members
9. Clubs will support the initiatives of the 2011-12 International Theme, ‘I Believe’.
