Lions On-Line Courses

We all know that the cost of a college education is increasing. But did you know that you can get an education for FREE!

Lions International offers nineteen courses on line that you can take from the convenience of your own home at no cost. These courses will not only help you be a better leader but the material that is covered in the classes is also very applicable in the work force.

The classes can be taken to fit your schedule. You can work on a class one evening and then go back to the spot you stopped at previously and start over from that spot. The courses also feature a note pad where you can take notes and then print them out and save them.

The District D GLT Committee encourages all Lions in the district to enhance and improve their leadership capabilities by completing the Lions on Line Learning Courses offered on the Lions Clubs International website.

The nineteen courses fall into four categories:

1. Leadership courses are focused on a broad range of skills to succeed as a Lion leader. These courses include the following: Introduction to Lions Leadership / Writing Your Personal Mission Statement / Creativity / Promoting Innovation / Managing Change

2. Managing others courses are geared toward gaining the skills to effectively create and maintain successful and productive relationships with people. These courses include the following: Coaching / Conflict Resolution / Delegation / Effective Teams / Member Motivation / Valuing Member Diversity / Mentoring

3. Achieving results courses are designed to assist in setting and achieving goals, both personal and professional. These courses include the following: Setting Goals / Decision Making / Managing Meetings / Providing Community Service

4. Communication courses are courses that increase interpersonal skills and success in public speaking. These courses include the following: Effective Listening / Public Relations / Public Speaking Those courses can be located as follows:

  • Log on to the www.ohiolions.org website

  • Click on the "Global Leadership Team" symbol on the right center of the home page

  • Scroll down the page to the resources at the bottom of the page -- click on the "Lions Learning Center (LCI Website)".

  • Click on the "course category" on the left side of the page corresponding to the course category you wish to pursue.

  • The site will instruct you to go to the "course registration page" to register.

  • You will have to "create an account" -- by putting in your Lions ID number and selecting a password.

 

Those Lions who complete ten (10) online courses and submit proof to the District D GLT Coordinator by February 1st each year will be recognized at the Annual District D Convention.

You can then select the courses you wish to complete and the website will keep track of your progress and the courses you complete. LCI will email you a copy of this record at your request.

You do not have to complete all ten courses in a single year -- just provide the information to the District D GLT Coordinator when you have completed ten.
